Family Hike

Boogs and I hiked on the River Place Nature Trail back in October. We kept trying to plan a time to take my husband on the trail but it did not work out until recently. Last time Boogs and I were on the trail, Boogs started feeling unwell. This time, he felt fit as a fiddle and we were able to explore a lot more of the trail.
Boogs used this tree to walk over the creek. Coming back was a bit harder.
The water was lower than last time. It was still nice to have the rocks to walk on.

This trail was so pretty and peaceful.
At this hilly part of the trail, Boogs started running. He probably ran for 15 minutes. My husband and I jogged along behind him trying to keep up. Where does he get all that energy from???
We were happy to find a few benches beside the trail to sit down and catch our breath.

We had some big storms come through our area a while back. The wind did quite a bit of damage to some trees. I thought it was really neat that the fallen part of this tree was used in a unique way, to make benches.

The damaged area was treated to help preserve the rest of the tree.
Here is another fallen tree branch bench. Boogs liked climbing all over them.

We are going to come back and hike this trail again later in the year.

    1. I don't know who thought to turn the fallen branches into benches but I loved that idea. Boogs loves to run wild in nature.

  3. What a wonderful looking trail and wow to the fallen trees carved into seats, this is such a lovely idea. You really must have had some incredible storms. Boogs is looking so tall this year, I remember him half this height!

Thank you for joining me for #CountryKids and have a very happy Easter.

    1. We had some really bad weather in Texas with Hurricane Harvey in late August & early September. Half of Texas was flooded. Our area had some flooding but it wasn't that bad. We've had other big storms since then, that had strong winds. They you for stopping by and commenting.

    1. It is nice. The two times we have been, the trail was not crowded. I imagine it will become crowded as the weather gets warmer.
