Boogs' Projects

Boogs always reminds me when the first Saturday of the month is coming up. He loves going to Home Depot for their Kids Workshop. This month, the project was to build a Valentine box.

Boogs is starting to read the directions on his own.

We are still working on figuring out the right amount of wood glue.

Yay! He didn't hit my finger this time.

He was very proud of his building skills.

Boogs said, "I will paint the heart red but then I am not going to use any other girly color!"

Tada!

Our public library has a wonderful weekly program for elementary kids called Explorers Club. We love the library!

Ms. Kit read a few stories about birthdays and then gave the kids the supplies to make a pretend cupcake. These were so cute that I thought about making them for Valentine's treat boxes for Boogs' class. Boogs asked for Star Wars Valentines.

Once a month, the Explorer's Club has Lego Lab. Boogs loves to go to Lego Lab. After you build your Lego creation, you write a name for it on a small plaque so that it can be displayed in the children's area until the next month's Lego Lab.

Be sure to check out the wonderful sites I link to on my sidebar. I linked up to Highhill's Hobbies and Handicrafts Linky.

Library Explorers Club

We love our local library. They have so many wonderful programs for kids. Each Thursday, I take Boogs to the Explorers Club. Every month the club has the following themes: Crafty Kid, Super Storytime, Silly Science, and Lego lab. Boogs looks forward to the hands-on activities. Last week's Silly Science was about catapults. He made two different kinds, one with an egg carton cup and one with a spoon launcher. So much fun!

They changed it up today. Instead of Super Storytime, the librarians put on 3 short puppet shows. After the show, the puppets came out to greet the children. We were one of the last to leave because Boogs was making the dragon puppet chew on its own fingers over and over and over again. 5 is such a great age!

Library Lego Lab

Our library has the Explorers Club every Thursday for K-5th graders. A couple of weeks ago, they had a "Lego Lab". The librarian put out huge boxes of Legos and let the kids build whatever they want. The kids wrote their names on little cards and put them on their creations. Their Lego creations were then moved to a display cabinet in the children's area of the library. When we went to the library this past week, Boogs was super excited to see his creation in the display case. It made up for not being able to bring his creation home.

Bonjour or "Bone Joe"

At the library Explorers Club today, the kids made pasta skeletons. Boogs asked another child to write "Bone Joe" on his paper to name his skeleton. Later, when we were in the car, Boogs asked me if I "got it". I had no idea what he was talking about. He smiled and said, "Bone Joe is kind of a joke like saying hello in French. Get it, Momma?" He is a clever boy.

Library Storytime

We have been going to the library storytime almost every week since Boogs was 9 weeks old. Boogs loves listening to Ms. Jane read stories, put on puppet shows, and sing songs. Last week, Ms. Jane had a mask making craft. Boogs wore his mask for most of the day. He is such a little cutie! We love the library. I am going to miss our weekly visits when school starts.
