Easter 2011

Just a few Easter pics from preschool and our family Easter celebration. Boogs was watching me get some things ready to take to lunch at my parent's house. He asked if we were going to have a celebration. I said yes and asked him if he knew why we were going to have a celebration. He replied, "Oh yes I know. God died on the stick and came back alive. And we are happy that he is not going to die on the stick anymore." He later went on to tell my mom that Jesus was off the stick for the whole weekend for a celebration and then he would have to go back on after the weekend was over. I guess we should have a little discussion about this.
Ready, set, hunt!
The kids were kind to each other while hunting eggs.

Getting ready to hunt at Nonnie's house.
Boogs found 43 eggs.

Boogs loved the cascarones.
He even broke some cascarones on Nonnie's head.

Such a cutie!

Big Birthday Boy

Yesterday was my handsome husband's 43rd birthday. He wanted a low-key day. So Boogs and I met up with him at his office, went to an early dinner, then headed home to open presents. Boogs decided he wanted to give his daddy a present they could work on together during their "Daddy Day" time. He spent a long time making his choice. He gravitated toward the Science kits. We had several items laying in the aisle to make sure he made the best choice. Some of the things he thought might make a good gift were: model car, Bat Mobile model, model jet, paper airplane launcher, robotic tin can, super Science experiment kit, microscope and a few others I cannot remember. He finally chose the Snap Circuits Jr. Kit which claims to let you "have fun learning all about electronics" and "build over 100 exciting projects". Boogs wanted to open it and see what the kit looked like out of the box. He told me we could put everything back in the box and Daddy would never know it had been opened. He became a little upset when I did not let him open it before we wrapped it. The first project Boogs wants to work on with his Daddy is to make an alarm that sounds like an ambulance. I think they will have fun working on this kit together.
Making the birthday card.
1, 2, 3, 4...I declare a thumb war.

He liked the card!
Boogs had to help get it open.

Boogs explained all about the projects.
Daddy whispering that Boogs' gift was better than Momma's gift.

Warrior Dash

I ran another Warrior Dash race. This time I went with my Cousin Leigh. We had a lot of fun. The course was a little more difficult than the one I ran in November. The obstacles were: run through waist high water, run through empty wooden buildings, climb over wrecked cars, climb over and under wooden barricades, scale a huge wall, walk across some up and down planks, run through a ton of tires, crawl through tangled bungee cords stretched between several trees, crawl through a long pitch-black tunnel on your knees, crawl across raised nets, climb up and over a cargo net, climb up and over giant stacked bales of hay, wade through deep water and climb over/under 6 floating logs (I went over not under), leap over two lines of fire, and finish off the race by crawling under barbed wire through a mud pit. I finished one minute slower than the race I ran in November. Not bad considering I was on antibiotics and a steroid dose pack to cure my sinus infection and bronchitis. I only had one bad coughing fit during the entire 3.26 miles of the race. I love these races. I am doing another one, Crusader Course, in June. My mom said she might even sign up to run the Warrior Dash with me in November this year.

My knee two days after the race.

New playscape

One of our favorite playgrounds just got an updated playscape. Boogs and I have visited twice during the past couple of weeks. It has great climbing structures. It makes me a little nervous when Boogs climbs up to the very top. This park also has a dirt bike area with paths and hills for doing jumps. Boogs LOVES to play on and slide down the hills. He always needs a bath after a visit to this park.

Fingerprint Art

Using an idea from the book

Fingerprint Lion

Free style

 A mountain of ants
Since we have been in the apartment, Boogs and I have not worked on a lot of art. There is carpet everywhere and I don't have a hose/backyard for washing down the art mat. We did get around to doing a little bit of fingerprint art after checking a cute little book out of the library. When I was a kid, I LOVED the Ed Emberley thumbprint books. I think I still have one somewhere. Thumbprint Critters is a very similar book. Boogs really enjoyed working on this art.

New House Update

The cabinetry is in for the Butler's Pantry.

Stone/brick complete. Needs staining, shutters, and the correct garage door.

Front door is in, waiting for staining.

Boogs was pretending to grill on the back porch.
Back porch fireplace is complete. Still need to stain the concrete.

Scooter

I thought I had already posted these pictures. Sorry for the delay. Boogs has been riding his new scooter around the apartment every day. He challenges me to race on foot while he scoots around. He is really enjoying it. We have taken it outside a little bit. I have been avoiding being outside as much as possible with all of the pollen and mold spores in the air. I am recovering from a sinus infection and bronchitis, Boogs has had a cough for a couple of weeks. His doctor said it was just allergies. We are hoping it will rain soon so the air clears and we can spend more time outside. Boogs is excited about riding his scooter in the new neighborhood.

Pinball

Last weekend, we got a Jurassic Park Pinball machine for the game room at the new house. Boogs loves it. It is currently being stored in the garage we are renting at our apartment complex. Boogs and I visited it several times this week. My husband is a big pinball fan.

My cleaning crew

I have a very small cleaning crew. Boogs loves to help clean mirrors with Windex. I had him take care of cleaning his own bathroom. He thought it was a lot of fun.

Science Kit

Boogs got a Science kit for his birthday called "Explore the mystery of color". He and I have done most of the experiments before but these were in a cool new package. He was happy to do them again. Boogs loves doing experiments.

New house update

We went by the new house today before the workers arrived to take pictures of the latest progress.
Fireplace has a mantle.
Back is bricked.

Kitchen has floor tiles.
Kitchen countertops are in place.
The arches are bricked. This is one of the things I like best about this house.

5th Birthday Pool Party

We celebrated Boogs' 5th birthday on April 3rd with his friends and had a little family party on his actual birthday, April 5th. He LOVED the pool party. All of the kids had a good time. Being in an apartment with most of our things in storage, forced me to have a low-key party this year. Quite a different experience from the Bug Party in 2009 and the Halloween Party in April last year. The only thing Boogs said he missed this year was a homemade pinata. He really liked helping me make the beehive  and Frankenstein pinatas in years past.

The lighting was really horrible in the pool area, but I still took a few pics.
