Wow! 2024 got here quickly. We had a quiet Christmas Day at home. It was a little sad to say goodbye to Cutesy the Elf. He was gone when we woke up but he did leave a gift for Boogs and a note saying he might be back next year. Inside the bag was a mug that had Boogs name all over it and a box of apple cider packets.
Santa brought us a family gift - Boxbollen. It is a headband with a ball on a string. It is supposed to improve your hand-eye coordination. It was hilarious watching each other try to hit the ball.
Boogs had the last gift under the tree. When he opened it, he was sent on a scavenger hunt to find his gift.
He was very happy to get a card for the computer he bought and built in September.
We spent the day eating, hanging out, watching movies, and playing games.
When we celebrate Christmas in Canada with my husband's family, we always have Christmas Crackers with our Christmas dinner. I found these Taskmaster crackers. We each had to complete a secret task without the other people figuring out what the secret task was. Boogs had to steal the ducks that came in the crackers without anyone noticing. I had to say "no thank you" to anyone who said "thank you" to me. My husband's cracker was missing the secret task so he had to make one up for himself. He decided to only refer to himself by his name. It was fun. We all were called out on our tasks. We pulled out the Game of Life boardgame because Boogs did not want to play any card games and I did not want to spend three days playing Risk.
The days between Christmas and New Year were slow and busy at the same time. Boogs and I met up with a friend I have known since Kindergarten for a trail walk.
I am optimistic that 2024 will be a good year. 2023 has been a bit rough at times with aging parents and aging in-laws health concerns and other stressors. We also had some wonderful family time in 2023, amazing trips, and laughs.
Happy New Year!
