Summer Swim Team

Wow, summer swim season is over! It always seems so long while your are in it, but really fast once it is over.  Summer swim team began with the first practice on May 2nd. We had the end of season team banquet on July 12th. During that time, Boogs had the opportunity to swim with the team six days a week.

Saturdays have been tough. Check-in time at the pool for a meet is usually 5:30 a.m. It is kind of pretty watching the sunrise over the pool.
This picture was taken by Stacy while we were setting up for the last meet. That bright yellow glow is one of the pool lights.

Boogs usually swims 5 events at each meet. I love that they Sharpie the events on his arm, makes it so convenient for me to take a picture so I don't miss an event.

The meets usually end around 12:45 p.m. Boogs and I are tired and want to spend the rest of our Saturdays relaxing at home.
Boogs form has improved so much this year.
Boogs is part fish. He loves being in the water. I love that swimming is such great exercise for him. Of course, summer swim season isn't really all about the pool. There is also the fun of hanging out in the swimmer's tents with your friends for hours at a time.
The first and last swim meets look pretty much the same in the tents.
Boogs loves it!
What more could a ten-year-old want out of a Saturday morning than swimming, hanging with friends, eating snacks, and playing video games?
Oh wait, there is one more thing...
...the Kona Ice truck! Boogs gets a snowcone every Saturday from the first meet to the last meet.
In between all of that eating and socializing, Boogs makes some time to swim a few strokes.

It has been a fun season. We can't wait for next May to do it all again.

Swim Team

Boogs' summer swim team has been in session for a month. That means he swims six days a week. It is hard to believe a month of swim team and three meets have already occurred. Here is a picture from swim evaluation day on May 8th, his first jump into the outdoor pool this season. His expression shows how cold the water was. Luckily, the water has warmed up since then.

His dive off the blocks has greatly improved this year. He used to just run off the block.

Waking up at 5:00 a.m. every Saturday for swim meets is not a lot of fun. But, I am happy to do it as long as Boogs is enjoying swim team.

End-of -Season Swim Party

I think I might just miss getting up at 4:50 every Saturday morning for swim meets. Boogs felt the loss of his six-day-a-week swim schedule on Monday morning. He has been swimming six days a week since the beginning of May. The Typhoon wrap-up party was held at Veterans Memorial Pool last night. We played on the playground for a bit before heading into the pool area. They have two wonderful obstacle course playscapes.

That platform is high! Boogs amazes me with his fearlessness.
He made it all the way across this challenging course.

The pool party was a great way to end the season. Boogs was exhausted by the time we went home at 9 pm.

Summer sleep-ins can now begin!
