Last of Cutesy's Visit 2015

Cutesy the Elf brought fun and holiday spirit to us this year. Here are the last few things he did before heading back to the North Pole on Christmas Eve.

Cutesy hid in the Christmas tree with a little Christmas tree treat.

Cutesy brought this little notebook to Boogs a couple of years ago, but Boogs never used it. Cutesy found it mixed in with a box of Christmas stuff and decided to give it to Boogs again.

Cutesy showed up in our hotel room with a new book for Boogs to read on the plane to Canada.

Cutesy wrote a message with Lego-type candy blocks on Grandmaman's side table.

We weren't sure what Cutesy was trying to do this morning. Was he trying to train the duck or trying to fly South for the winter?

Cutesy found a Sharpie marker and drew minions on Grandpapa's bananas.

On Christmas morning, Cutesy left behind a little package for Boogs.

It was a thumb wrestling ring. We had a lot of fun challenging each other to thumb wrestling matches.

We were sad that Cutesy had to leave. Boogs hopes he comes back again next year and get up to more nonsense and mischief.

Cutesy the Elf & Holiday Activities

Cutesy and Purple Minion decided to put aside their differences and play a game of checkers. Uh-oh! It looks like Purple Minion is cheating! You can't have a quadruple King.

Cutesy found a roll of wrapping paper and blocked Boogs' door with strips of paper.

 Boogs didn't mind one bit.

Story themed lunch for Turkey Claus by Wendi Silvano. This was a cute story about a turkey who managed to escape the Thanksgiving dinner table only to realize that turkey was on the menu for Christmas dinner. The turkey went to the North Pole to use his Christmas wish to ask Santa to save him. Unfortunately, the elves didn't think turkeys should talk to Santa. Turkey tried all sorts of disguises to get past the elves. We thought it was really cute when turkey tried to disguise himself as a Christmas tree. In the Laptop lunchbox: ham & cheese Turkey tree sandwich, okra chip branches, Santa pick, apple sauce, salad, and yogurt.

 

Chrismas Tree lunch  in an ELB: mini ham & cheese tree and ornament sandwiches, boiled egg, yogurt covered pretzel snow, blackberries, salad, and yogurt.

Snowman lunch - pb&j snowman sandwich balls, mango, Zbar, yogurt, and yogurt covered pretzels.

Christmas stocking lunch in an ELB - pb&j stocking sandwich, salami & cheese stocking sandwich, blackberries, sesame sticks, carrots, and a Christmas candy.

Boogs gave a presentation about France at school this week. One of the topics he was supposed to cover in his report was traditional foods of France. Boogs wanted to make a Kings Cake, but all the recipes we found contained almond flour. One of the kids in his class is allergic to nuts so we went with a Buche de Noel (Yule Log) instead. Boogs said his arm got tired whipping the eggs for five minutes with the hand-mixer. The cake kind of turned out how it was supposed to. The kids in his class loved the flavor and asked if he could make another one for their holiday party. We used THIS Betty Crocker recipe.

After we finished making the Buche de Noel, Boogs and I went to the Zilker Park Trail of Lights with D and the J-boys. (J1 stayed home) This was our second year to go. The boys were not as impressed with it this year because the displays were the same as last year. I thought all of the lights were beautiful and we had fun spinning under the big tree of lights.

My favorite scene was Snoopy watching the stars on his doghouse.

Boogs and the J-boys liked the Candyland tent. There was a candy making machine that you had to press a bunch of different levers to make the candy come out.

I tried to get a good picture of Boogs under the archway of lights. He told me I'd have to catch him if I wanted to take any more pictures.

 Then he crouched down and stood still for about two seconds to "let" me get a picture. Oh well.

Boogs had his class holiday party today. For a craft activity, they made cute little snowmen.

 Boogs used the batting to pretend he was Santa.

Food, games, and a movie topped off the class party. Boogs said he had a good time.

We are now officially on holiday break from school until January 4th. Wow, this has been a quick year.

My husband and I attended his holiday party for work. Thanks, Ledda for fixing my hair and applying my make-up.

Cutesy the Elf Days 11 - 16

Cutesy keeps surprising Boogs with new places to hide and new things to do. He brought Boogs several baggies of Legos with a note for Boogs to put them together to match the Christmas shapes in the picture.

Boogs quickly got to work making those shapes. Look, we are still playing with the engineering challenge materials Cutesy brought on December 5th.

Boogs decided to combine the Lego shapes into a giant "Mecha Christmas" robot. He explained to me that a Mech is a robot usually operated by a person inside it. Okay.

 Then he went back to building with the blocks, cups, and craft sticks (see the post HERE.)

 I loved his expression when everything came crashing down.

 

Cutesy and his friends were hanging out in the living room reading a couple of Christmas books.

Boogs had a hard time locating Cutesy this morning. Cutesy was hiding on the stairs with a Christmas word scramble.

Twisted peppermint - Cutesy twisted candy canes into the letters of Boogs' initials. Cutesy must have put a few candy canes in the oven on parchment paper at 300 degrees for 6 to 7 minutes to get them soft enough to handle and twist.

Every year, Cutesy shows up with a new gingerbread house for Boogs to decorate.

 

Boogs got to work on it with his own decorating vision in mind.

Boogs turned it into a Grinch house. He said Santa was chasing away the Grinch and then cleaning up the mess Grinch made.

Cutesy was hanging out by the Keurig machine this morning with a hot cocoa pod and marshmallows.

Our time with Cutesy is passing by quickly this year. We sure are glad he continues to visit us.

Cutesy the Elf Days 6 - 10

Cutesy the Elf has been a ton of fun to have around. He keeps surprising us each morning with his activities, antics, and treats.

Cutesy likes to make sure the house is properly decorated for the Christmas season. Every year, he decorates Boogs' bathroom. Some years, he gift wraps the toilet. This year, he put up the Santa shower curtain, put the Santa seat cover on, put down a Santa floor mat, and strung colorful lights all around the toilet.

 

Boogs laughed out loud when he saw it but he was worried about getting electrocuted if he tried to use the bathroom with the Christmas lights wrapped around the toilet. He asked me to take them off.

Cutesy must have found the Science vocabulary flash cards Boogs was studying because he turned those vocabulary words into a crack-the-code puzzle.

The answer to the puzzle led to a candy pooping reindeer hidden under the couch.

Boogs got right to work trying to crack the code. Every year, Cutesy leaves some kind of code to crack that goes along with what Boogs is working on at school. Cutesy is such a smart little elf. I sure like it when Cutesy makes Boogs think.

Cutesy was sitting on the coffee table coloring a gingerbread house with an extra coloring sheet for Boogs to color. Cutesy brings a new Christmas joke every day. Today's joke was: Why do Mummies like Christmas so much? Because of all the wrapping.

Boogs found Cutesy sitting in an elf bubble bath on the kitchen counter. He brought an ornament filled with marshmallow scented Minion bubble bath for Boogs to use in the big bath tub.

Cutesy brought back the little Christmas tree for Boogs' playroom. Every year, Cutesy brings it back with an ornament to add to it. This year he brought a reindeer ornament with the initial of Boogs' first name.
