Time Passes Quickly

I can't believe my baby boy is six-years-old and officially a 1st grader. He has grown so much during this school year.

Boogs is very happy to have summer here. I put together a "Welcome Summer" bag and left it in Boogs' playroom for him to find the morning after school ended.
I went through our "fun" cabinet and found some unused items, shopped the Dollar Deals at Michael's, and bought a few other things.

When I went to check on him in the morning, he was busily at work. I asked him what he was doing and he said, "Look Momma! I think I have a summer fun bag. It is full of things to keep me busy this summer. Did you leave this here for me?"

He is such a sweet boy. I am so happy for our summer to start!

Autograph Shirt

Boogs has one day left of Kindergarten. I decided to make an autograph shirt for his friends to sign. I was going to go to Hobby Lobby and buy a white t-shirt, but then I remembered a t-shirt in his closet that he never wears. This shirt started out white, got stained, was then tie-dyed, and now I have freezer paper stenciled on it. It was perfect for the kiddos to write all over with permanent marker.

I could not find my craft exacto knife so I had to settle for a box cutter. Whew, that was a lot of work with a box cutter.

Green paint to match the green tie-dye.

Tada! Finished and ready to wear to school.

Before school - Boogs thought it was a pretty cool idea to have his friends write on him.

After school - Boogs had fun getting signed. During bath time, he thought it was pretty funny that he had permanent marker dots on his skin. The markers went through in a couple of places. Boogs told me that he put the end of his shirt up on a desk so his friend could draw a heart near the bottom.
I still can't believe that tomorrow afternoon I will be bringing home a 1st grader. This year (actually the past 6 years) has gone by way too quickly. I am really going to enjoy having my boy home for the summer.

2nd Day of Kindergarten

Boogs wanted to read his new car book this morning before school. We read it together and Boogs let me know that he would like a car lunch today. So, he helped me figure out how to do that. He has already requested a monster lunch for tomorrow.

After school, Boogs told me he had a good day. He got two sticks for being good today. When he gets 10 sticks, he gets to visit the treasure box. He is very excited about that.

1st Day of Kindergarten

Boogs started kindergarten this week. He seems to be adjusting well. He was very nervous on the first day of school. When he arrived at his classroom, he walked right in and went to the lockers to find the one with his name on it. Unfortunately, his teacher had spelled both his first and last name incorrectly on his locker, name tag and desk plate. Boogs went to his spot and found a connect the dot worksheet on his desk. He immediately started working on it. He got so involved with it that he barely paid attention when his dad and I left the room. After school, he got in the car and said, "Momma, that was not that long of a day. It is still sunny outside. I thought I had to go to school until bedtime." I guess that was one of the things that was making him so nervous, thinking he would not have time for anything else in a day except school. He said he had a good day, "But, we did not really get to the hard stuff, yet. That is what freaks me out!"
Getting Daddy to fix his hair "just right".

Before school, we read the book The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn. It is about a
little scared raccoon going to school for the first time
and how his mom gave him a kiss to think of her throughout
the day. So I made Boogs a "Kissing Hand" lunch.
Lunchbox full of love. Turns out his teacher
read The Kissing Hand to the class today.

Ready to go to school.
Outside the school building.

Working on his connect the
 dot page.
1st day of school completed. We
bought a car book to celebrate.
