Latest Cutesy Antics

Cutesy the Elf has been busy during the night while we are sleeping. I don't know how that little elf can keep so busy and so quiet at the same time. Here is what he has been up to:

Boogs found my camera out and my
computer/printer on this morning.
Cutesy got into my photo paper and
made a couple of pictures of himself
and put them in a snowglobe.

Boogs liked the picture of him and Cutesy best.

"Last Day of School!" I made
Boogs wait while I found my
camera. Cutesy is holding the
marker.  Boogs was not thrilled
about having his picture taken.

Lunches December 12th - 16th

Boogs' lunches are based on the story we read at bedtime the previous evening. To see past weeks of lunches, click on the label at the end of this post.

Stella Louella's Runaway Book by Lisa Campbell Ernst
Stella Louella's library book is due by 5 o'clock. She must hunt down her runaway book and turn it in before it's too late! Boogs liked this story and compared it to the gingerbread story. Clues are given about what the name of the runaway book is, but its title is never revealed. In the lunchbox: pb&j runaway book with crust running shoes, 3 bears cheese cut-outs, carrots, Babybel girl, kiwi and blueberries.

Pet Boy by Keith Graves
Stanley collects pets but then neglects them. He learns his lesson when HE becomes an alien's pet. Boogs loved the illustrations in this book. It has great words for expanding his vocabulary: unique, undiscovered, quirky, oddities, immobilized, outlandish, scampered, and many more. In the lunchbox: Stanley made out of granola bar, cheese & ham pets in a cheese cage, strawberry creature, cauliflower lamb, and goldfish crackers.

The grandfather in this story tells, with great exaggeration, how he immigrated from Russia to New York. The story has flying goats, buttons large enough for sleds, a moon made out of matzoh. Boogs said, "Hey this is like a tall tale story." I love when he makes connections between the stories we have read. In the lunchbox: pb&j baby carriage with Babybel wheels, blueberry & raspberry American flag, veggies, and fruit snacks (not pictured). It did not turn out how I wanted, but at least it is a healthy meal that Boogs will eat.

Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett
This is one of Boogs' favorite holiday stories. We usually read it before we make our gingerbread house each year, but Boogs is still unwrapping one holiday book each day. I never know what holiday story to expect. In the lunchbox: pb&j gingerbread baby and tree, strawberries, blueberries, carrots with hummus, yogurt and flavored Cheerios.

Boogs' last day of school before the holiday break is Friday, 12/16. His class holiday party is right before lunch so I am letting him buy a school lunch. I know he is going to be too full of junk from the party to eat lunch. I don't know if I will be making story themed lunches for him over the holiday break. We will just have to see how it goes.

Snowman Soup

Boogs, GP, and GM helped me put together Snowman Soup packages for classroom treats, some staff members at Boogs' school, and the librarians at our public library. I had a package topper in my Christmas file from last year's Snowman Soup.  Last year I used my watercolor pencils to color the stamped snowman. This year I just stamped a snowman using an old Night of Navy ink pad and a stamp from Festive Friends, a Stampin Up retired set. I used the Stampin Up Top Note die cut for this year's topper and dry embossed it with the Texturz Backgrounds #1.

GM glued on the poem, GP put the cocoa packets into the cello bags,
and Boogs put in Hershey's Kisses, a candy cane, and marshmallows.
 I stamped the snowman, printed the poem, die cut and embossed the
topper, and stapled it on the bags.

We made 40 of them.

I have used two different Snowman Soup poems over the years. Here they are:

Always glad to hear it
With freezing weather drawing near

So here's a little Snowman Soup
Complete with stirring stick
Just add hot water, sip it slow
It's sure to do the trick!

When it's so cold that you holler and whoop,
It's time to bring out the Snowman Soup!
Pour the packet in a mug and add the snowballs, too.
And throw in the Kisses from the snowman to you.
Now add some hot water and use the stick to stir it.
Sip it slow and soon you'll feel the warm winter spirit!

What We've Been Up To

GP and GM must have brought the chilly wet weather with them from Canada. We have gray skies and rain forecast for the next week. We have been keeping busy, but would sure like to get in some hiking on the greenbelt trails.

Boogs took all of the money out of his piggy bank and just started making a trail of money. He said he was making a trail to a pot of gold.

This kept him busy for a long time.
We ended up leaving it out for two days.

Cutesy Still Keeps Finding Ways to Amuse Boogs

Boogs found Cutesy fishing in the kitchen. I  found this idea on Pinterest.

Cutesy snuggled up to Scruffles, Boogs' new Perfect Petzzz, and brushed his hair.

Cutesy kicked Scruffles out of his carrier and moved the dog into a box. Boogs  quickly put Scruffles back in his carrier and moved Cutesy to the green bucket he arrived in. Then Boogs moved the two post its to identify their correct "homes".

A letter arrived in the mail yesterday with Santa's name on the return address (but mysteriously postmarked in Canada). Cutesy is holding for Boogs.

Cutesy's Latest Adventures

Cutesy is still surprising Boogs each morning with all sorts of mischief. Here are his latest adventures:

GP & GM in the House!

Grandpapa and Grandmaman have journeyed from Ottawa, Canada to spend the holidays with us. Boogs was very sad, and I am sure they were too, that GP and GM missed their connecting flight in D.C. by 5 minutes. They had to spend 10 hours at the airport before they could get on another flight to Austin. Not a fun day for them. Boogs got to see them bright and early Thursday morning. Other than being in school, he has been spending his time hanging out with GP and GM. Okay, there was a little bit of Boogs' time devoted to watching Pokemon.
