Around the Neighborhood

We are fortunate enough to have a greenbelt area behind our house and several small parks closeby. During the past couple of months, we have noticed a few foxes in the back. It is hard to see in this first picture, but there is a rabbit in the foreground being stalked by a fox you can see in the top right.
This little fox frequently visits our backyard to sniff around a bit. He ignores that we are sitting on the porch taking pictures of him. He (or she) is a brave little fox.
We also have deer that wander around behind the fence.
We frequently take the path through the woods to go to one of Boogs favorite parks. Boogs favorite time to take this path is when it is raining. It is so much fun to slosh through the mud but we also enjoy taking the path when it is dry.
On a recent visit, this cat walked straight across a field meowing for Boogs attention. Boogs sat down on the little wall and the cat came over for a 30 minute cuddle. I was shocked how friendly this little kitty is.
We also like to ride our bikes to this park. It takes longer to get there when you take the route on the street instead of the shortcut on the woods' trail. Last time I tried to ride my bike on the trail, I bent my front tire and had to have it replaced. So, we don't ride our bikes on that path anymore, too many tree roots and rocks to try and avoid.
Boogs and Daddy had a great time running around the playscape. They were playing "King of the Slide". They also had a pull-up test. I remember hating the pull-up test we had to do in gym class when I was Boogs' age.
I spent some of my time at the park watching a squirrel scamper all over this giant tree. There was a picnic table bench positioned perfectly in the shade underneath it.
If only we could figure out a way to make it a bit cooler outside. I love to be outside but the 100 to 103 degree temperature during the day is not all that pleasant.

    1. I really wanted to take a close up picture, but I wasn't sure how that fox would react. So, I just used the zoom on my camera to get the pictures. He usually comes by just after sunset. I was lucky to see him that day when there was still a bit of daylight left.

  2. You really do have so much wildlife around you. That fox looks almost tame stalking the garden there and the play area looks great fun. We are having a bit of a heatwave in England at the moment so I sympathize with the temperatures. I'm not complaining though as it won't last more than a day or two here.

Thank you for sharing a little of your everyday summer life with me on #CountryKids

    1. Thanks for stopping by. Summers here in Texas are really hot, but the trade off for that is about 300 days a year of sunshine.
