Goodbye 3rd Grade

Another school year has come to an end. We have a yearly tradition of taking a photo on the porch on the first and last day of each school year. You can see Boogs' growth measured against the front door. Sometimes I ask Boogs to wear the same clothes on the first and last day of school. So far, he thinks it is a fun tradition. Here are Boogs' elementary school years so far:

Kindergarten
First Grade

Second Grade
Third Grade
He decided to hold the sign upside down and not smile for this morning's picture. Silly boy!

After our half day of school today, we met some friends at a nearby restaurant with an outdoor playscape. It was the perfect way to start our summer. The temperature was only 90 degrees so it was not too hot to eat and play outside.

Getting dizzy on the spinny thing. I tried it and it made me sick to my stomach.
Yum! Sweet potato fries.
This little monkey kept climbing on the outside of the tube slide and on top of the play structure. I told him I really did not want to start our summer with a trip to the ER.
A little Amy's Ice Cream to top off the afternoon.
Our summer calendar is already starting to fill up. I am trying to make sure we have a good balance of activities, playdates, outings, and down time.

  3. Love the school photos! You're so lucky school is over. We still have about a month or so before school ends here in the UK :)

    1. If we ever move away from this house, we night have to sneak back over on the first and last day of school for pictures. Pretty soon Boogs' head is going to be even with the window on the door.

  4. Wow, he's done a lot of growing in 3 years! That's a cool tradition. Wish I'd thought of something like that :)

    1. It has been really neat to watch him grow measured against the door. I only thought of it because we had just moved into this house when he started kindergarten.

  5. love all kinds of traditions and this one is great!~ Last school year I hung up a great big sign on our front porch that my son would see when he got home. Did the same thing this year which was just yesterday and I caught the smiles as he read all the congratulatory words on the sign as he says good-bye to 3rd grade! Found your great post over at Crafty Moms Share where this post was featured this week.
